MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Director Agriculture (Extension) Dera Ghazi Khan Division, Mehar Abid Hussain, said on Wednesday that cotton holds the status of the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and continues to play a vital role in the country’s agricultural and industrial sectors.
He expressed these views while addressing a cotton seminar held at Union Council Bait Qaim Shah. According to a spokesperson for the Agriculture Department, the director termed cotton as the “white gold” of Pakistan and expressed optimism that the current year would prove promising for both the crop and farmers.
He urged growers to cultivate cotton on maximum available land to enhance production and contribute to economic stability.
Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Muzaffargarh, Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Bhatti, also addressed the farmers and provided detailed guidance on various aspects of cotton cultivation.
Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) Tehsil Muzaffargarh, Muhammad Afzal Qureshi, briefed the participants about pest management and effective measures to control crop diseases.
A large number of farmers attended the seminar. Agriculture Officer (Extension) Shah Jamal, Muhammad Bilal Zafar, was also present on the occasion.
