An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed an application challenging the confiscation of assets belonging to proclaimed offender Moonis Elahi in the Gujrat development projects corruption and kickbacks reference
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed an application challenging the confiscation of assets belonging to proclaimed offender Moonis Elahi in the Gujrat development projects corruption and kickbacks reference.
The application had been filed by Moonis Elahi's mother, Qaisara Elahi, who challenged the asset seizure proceedings initiated after Moonis Elahi was declared a proclaimed offender.
Administrative Judge Rana Muhammad Arif announced the verdict after completion of arguments and ruled that the plea was not maintainable.
The court observed that a proclaimed offender cannot appoint a representative to pursue legal proceedings, adding that any application filed on behalf of such an accused is not maintainable under the law.
During the hearing, National Accountability Bureau Prosecutor Haris Qureshi opposed the application, arguing that Qaisara Elahi had been appointed as general attorney by Moonis Elahi but could not legally represent him in the matter.
Counsel Arshad Javed Bhatti appeared on behalf of Qaisara Elahi.
Former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi and others are accused in the reference of receiving kickbacks and bribes in development projects in Gujrat.
NAB has already filed a corruption reference against Parvez Elahi and other accused, while proceedings for confiscation of Moonis Elahi’s assets continue separately.
