LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) A sessions court on Tuesday issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency ( NCCIA) and sought its response on a petition filed by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, challenging a trial court order that refused permission to record her statement via video link in a case of uploading her fake video.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mansoor Ahmad Qureshi heard the petition. During the hearing, counsel for Azma Bukhari argued that her personal appearance before the court was not possible due to serious security threats. He contended that the trial court failed to consider relevant facts and did not seek a threat assessment report before rejecting the request.

He maintained that she had sought permission to record her statement through a video link; however, the trial court dismissed the application without providing any lawful justification. The counsel requested the court to set aside the impugned order and grant permission for appearance and recording of the statement through video link.

The court adjourned further proceedings until February 26 and directed the NCCIA to submit its reply.

Earlier, the trial court had rejected Azma Bukhari’s application for recording her statement via video link and summoned her to appear in person for the purpose of recording her statement.

Meanwhile, the trial court on Tuesday issued notices to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari after she failed to appear for recording of her statement in a case related to the circulation of her fake video on social media.

Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo heard the case at the District Kacheri. The court noted that Azma Bukhari had been directed at the previous hearing to appear in person to record her statement but did not comply.

During the hearing, accused Falak Javed was produced before the court from jail.

The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency on the complaint of Azma Bukhari.
