CTP Rawalpindi chalks out traffic plan for Tench Bhatta Ashura Procession

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Ashura procession originating from Tench Bhatta on 10th Muharram, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and maintaining security during the religious event.

According to CTP spokesperson, the procession will commence at 9:00 a.m. from Tench Bhatta and, after passing through various designated routes, will conclude after Maghrib prayers.

More than 70 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed along the procession route to manage traffic and facilitate commuters.

Traffic diversions will be placed at key locations, including Abid Majeed Road, Tench Bazaar, Ali Chowk, Mughalabad, Chungi No. 22, and Bakra Mandi.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes, including Kiayni Road, Muhammad Khan Road, Tamizuddin Road, Peoples Colony, and Harley Street, to avoid inconvenience during the procession.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam said additional personnel have been deployed on alternative routes to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow. He urged citizens to prioritize alternate roads during the procession and cooperate with traffic police.

The CTO further stated that no parking will be allowed along the procession route, and strict traffic regulations will be enforced throughout the event. He added that the traffic police will remain in close coordination with district police to ensure law and order and public safety.

Directing all officers and personnel to remain vigilant, CTO Farhan Aslam emphasized the importance of performing their duties responsibly and professionally. He said the traffic police would play a proactive role in managing both traffic and security arrangements during the Ashura processions.
