DC calls for up-gradation of Murree’s aesthetic appeal, scenic beauty

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi has directed the authorities concerned to expedite efforts aimed at improving the beauty and infrastructure of Murree, with a special focus on upgrading main roads, tourist routes and public facilities to better serve both visitors and local residents.

Following these instructions, the district administration has launched comprehensive measures to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of key urban and tourist areas. Work is actively underway on repainting roadside structures and protective walls along major roads and intersections, giving the city a refreshed appearance.

Officials said that streetlights were being restored and repainted to ensure full functionality, particularly to improve visibility and safety during nighttime hours. Alongside this, special efforts are being made to strengthen sanitation services, remove encroachments, and maintain smooth traffic flow across busy routes.

The administration emphasized that these initiatives aimed to highlight Murree’s natural beauty while ensuring safe, comfortable and quality travel facilities for tourists and residents alike. With a growing influx of visitors, improving basic infrastructure has been identified as a key priority.

Officials added that, in line with the special directives of the Government of Punjab, a broader modernization plan for Murree was moving forward rapidly. Under this plan, civic amenities, traffic management, and tourism services were being upgraded in accordance with modern standards.

The district administration expressed the confidence that the ongoing development work would transform Murree into a more attractive, well-managed and secure tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors.
