RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) A meeting of the District Peace Committee was held in Murree on Wednesday to review law and order, promote interfaith and inter-sect harmony and review public welfare initiatives in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zahir Abbas Sherazi and attended by senior officials of the district administration, law enforcement agencies, heads of various departments, religious scholars, media representatives, and members of the District Peace Committee.
Addressing the meeting, DC Agha Zahir Abbas Sherazi said that maintaining peace and order in Murree, an important tourist destination with peaceful religious harmony, remained the top priority of the district administration. He emphasized that peace was not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies but required active participation from religious scholars, civil society, media, and the public.
He added that the administration was taking all possible steps for timely resolution of public issues, enforcement of law, and protection of citizens’ lives and property.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He directed all departments to enhance coordination and adopt a unified strategy to improve public service delivery and ensure advance preparedness to deal with any untoward situation.
The DC appreciated the role of religious scholars and peace committee members, stating that their efforts in promoting tolerance, brotherhood, and national unity are highly commendable. He expressed the hope that the District Peace Committee would continue to play an effective role in maintaining peace and promoting social harmony in collaboration with the administration.
The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve to strengthen peace and order in Murree, promote sectarian harmony, and enhance public welfare efforts. Participants agreed that through joint efforts of the administration, law enforcement agencies, and the public, Murree can be developed as a model district of peace, tolerance, and development.
