HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Following the LPG cylinder explosion in Latifabad No. 11, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon chaired a meeting at the New DC Complex, which was attended by SSP Shahzeb Chachar, Assistant Commissioners of all talukas, Municipal Commissioner Hyderabad, Police Officers, Municipal Corporation Officers, Civil Defence officers, Incharge Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments.
According to a handout, the meeting reviewed recent fire incidents, with particular concern about risks associated with LPG cylinders.
The deputy commissioner directed strict action against illegal LPG storage and sale in densely populated areas, with cases to be registered against violators.
He emphasized that only OGRA-approved cylinders will be permitted and decanting practices will be strictly banned.
SSP Shahzaib Chachar stated that police will adopt a zero-tolerance approach against illegal LPG activities, ensuring daily enforcement operations and strict legal action against serious violations.
Concerns were also raised regarding illegal warehouses and commercial use of residential buildings.
The Sindh Building Control Authority was directed to take immediate action and seal unsafe and unauthorized structures.
The Municipal Corporation was instructed to install and restore fire hydrants, while Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence were directed to remain fully prepared for emergencies.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure coordinated efforts among all departments to safeguard public lives and property, with no tolerance for negligence.
