DC reviews relief camps, health facilities

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz on Monday visited relief camps set up

along the BRB Canal and Ravi River as well as the Maryam Nawaz Sharif Health Clinic

to review public safety measures and healthcare facilities.

During the visit, Assistant Commissioner Wagah Hafiz Zeeshan Manzoor briefed the deputy

commissioner on the operational status of the relief camps, deployment of staff and

emergency preparedness arrangements.

The DC was informed that relief camps had been activated at key points along the BRB Canal,

Ravi River and the canal headworks, while rescue boats, life jackets and other emergency

equipment were fully operational.

The DC reviewed measures aimed at preventing drowning incidents and directed all field staff

to remain vigilant and perform duties in accordance with the prescribed roster. He also instructed

all relevant departments to maintain close coordination and real-time communication to ensure

an effective response during emergencies.

The DC said that inter-departmental coordination was vital for dealing with disasters and

emergency situations, adding that the establishment of relief camps was essential for the

protection of human lives.

The DC also inspected the Maryam Nawaz Sharif Health Clinic, where he reviewed medical

and administrative arrangements. He was informed that sufficient stocks of medicines and

essential medical kits were available at the facility. He directed the staff to ensure the timely

provision of medicines to patients and maintain cleanliness in washrooms and waiting areas.

He said the district administration was committed to providing the best possible healthcare

facilities to citizens and transforming Maryam Nawaz Sharif Health Clinics into model

healthcare centres.
