ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Deputy Chairman of the Senate Syedaal Khan on Tuesday held a meeting with the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), SSP Security Islamabad, and senior CDA officials.

During the meeting, the overall situation at the Parliament Lodges came under detailed discussion, with particular focus on security, sanitation, and drainage issues.

The Deputy Chairman apprised the participants of concerns expressed by Members of the Senate regarding security arrangements at the Parliament Lodges and directed that measures be aligned with modern requirements and made foolproof security to ensure the safety of members.

He instructed the SSP Security to conduct a comprehensive security audit, take immediate corrective measures, and present a detailed security plan.

Expressing serious concern over the poor state of sanitation and drainage, Syedaal Khan directed the CDA Chairman to improve cleanliness arrangements on an emergency basis and take prompt and effective steps to resolve longstanding drainage issues.

He added that Members of Parliament, particularly women senators, have voiced strong concerns over the situation.

He emphasised that the provision of basic facilities to residents of the Parliament Lodges is the responsibility of the CDA and that no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.

Furthermore, concerns of Members of the Senate regarding ongoing operations against informal settlements in various areas of Islamabad were also conveyed to the CDA Chairman.

The Deputy Chairman directed that such operations be carried out in a transparent, fair, and humane manner, and that elected representatives be taken into confidence before any decisions are made.

The Deputy Chairman stressed that the CDA and relevant authorities must improve their performance in ensuring the provision of civic amenities at the Parliament Lodges and across the Federal capital.

He directed all concerned officials to adopt a coordinated strategy to address these issues and to submit regular progress reports to the Senate Secretariat.
