DG Meteorology discusses ways to enhance cooperation with SIAL

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Meteorological Department Director General Dr Muhammad Afzal visited Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) office here on Thursday and met Vice Chairman Waqas Afzal, CEO Sial Air, Air Vice Marshal Tanveer Ashraf Bhatti (Retd.), and Airport Manager Nisar Ahmed.

Chief Meteorologist Lahore, Zaheeruddin Babar, was also present. During the discussion, both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation and coordination between Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) and the Meteorological Department.

Vice Chairman SIAL, Waqas Afzal, said that the SIAL and the Meteorological Department work closely on a daily basis to ensure smooth and safe airport operations. He emphasized that the Meteorology Department plays a vital role in aviation activities.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Meteorology Dr. Muhammad Afzal highlighted the importance of accurate weather information and forecasting for airport operations. He said that timely weather updates and predictions are critical for ensuring flight safety and operational efficiency at any airport.

Dr. Afzal appreciated the continuous support extended by Sialkot International Airport to the Meteorological Department and expressed hope that this cooperation would be further strengthened in the future. He also noted that all meteorological equipment installed at the airport is fully operational and that meteorological officers closely monitor and assess weather conditions on a regular basis.

Sial Air CEO Air Vice Marshal Tanveer Ashraf Bhatti (Retd.) remarked that detailed information regarding potential weather changes is consistently provided to Sialkot International Airport in a timely manner, enabling efficient planning and decision-making.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Waqas Afzal expressed gratitude for the professionalism and dedicated services of the Meteorological Department, acknowledging its significant contribution to the safe and efficient operation of the airport.
