DIG Hyderabad chairs meeting to review crackdown against mainpuri, gutka

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) A high-level meeting chaired by DIG Hyderabad Range Tariq Razzak Dharejo here on Friday, reviewed the ongoing crackdown being carried out against manufacturing and sale of mainpuri gutka in the range's 9 district.

The police spokesman informed that all the 9 SSPs in the range attended the meeting and separately briefed the DIG about actions underway in their respective districts.

Speaking on the occasion, the DIG emphasized that the people involved in that hazardous trade did not deserve any leniency.

He noted with concern that the health hazardous mainpuri and gutka had made a large number of people addicts while at the same time exposing them to severe health risks including cancer.

Dharejo directed the officials to take action even against facilitators of that dirty illicit trade.

The meeting also discussed the issue of organized crimes with the DIG asking the SSPs to pace up actions against such groups and to burst their gangs and networks. Zero tolerance policy should be pursued against such elements, he said.
