District Abbottabad to launche comprehensive Polio campaign from April 13

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) A meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee was held here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram to review preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign to be held from April 13 to April 19 across 54 union councils of Abbottabad.

Officials from the District Polio Control Room presented a detailed briefing on campaign readiness, including training of vaccination teams, security arrangements, and overall administrative planning.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that all children under the age of five must be administered polio drops along with Vitamin A supplements during the campaign. He emphasized upon improving team performance and ensuring complete door-to-door vaccination coverage, while also focusing on fixed and transit points to maximize outreach.

Foolproof security arrangements were also discussed, with strict instructions issued to the district police to ensure the safety of teams and smooth conduct of the campaign.

Appealing to parents, the Deputy Commissioner urged them to cooperate fully with the administration and ensure their children receive polio drops, terming it a national responsibility to eradicate the disease.

A total of 1,708 teams, including mobile, fixed, transit, and roaming units, have been deployed to vaccinate children and provide Vitamin A supplements to boost immunity.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Mayor Abbottabad, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), District Health Officer, Assistant Commissioner, DSP Headquarters, WHO Area Coordinator, and PEI and EPI coordinators.
