ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Torrential rains across the district Abbottabad have caused widespread disruption, triggering landslides, road blockages, and structural damage in various parts of Abbottabad and surrounding areas.

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat, Muhammad Tariq, on Thursday conducted an immediate visit to Bagnutar after reports of a rain-induced landslide. During the inspection, it was found that the main road had been completely blocked by debris, severely disrupting traffic flow.

Taking swift action, KPHA machinery was promptly dispatched to the site. Under the supervision of the Additional Assistant Commissioner, the debris was cleared efficiently, and the road was fully reopened, restoring normal traffic.

However, the ongoing spell of heavy rains has led to multiple incidents across the district. In the scenic Galiyat region, several landslides resulted in the closure of two link roads, creating difficulties for commuters. Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas until weather conditions improve.

In Abbottabad, the Namli Maira Road was blocked due to a landslide, cutting off access for residents, while the Neryan Bagh-Nakar Road was also closed after mud and debris slid.

The district administration has reaffirmed its commitment to responding promptly to emergencies and ensuring the restoration of public services, while urging citizens to exercise caution during the ongoing severe weather conditions.
