DPO assumes charge in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) A ceremony was held at Police Lines Gujrat where District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Umar Farooq handed over charge to the newly posted DPO Akhtar Farooq.

Both officers visited the martyrs’ memorial, laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha. A police contingent presented a guard of honour on the occasion.

According to a police spokesperson, SP Investigation Riaz Naz, DSPs, SHOs and other officers attended the ceremony. The new DPO was also introduced to the officers.

A commemorative shield was presented to outgoing DPO Rana Umar Farooq in recognition of his services.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Umar Farooq said that transfers and postings were part of service, adding that serving as DPO Gujrat was an honour for him.

The ceremony concluded with a farewell for the outgoing DPO and a welcome for the new one.
