DPO for tightening of security of sensitive, worship places, action against beggers

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review law and order, counter-terrorism measures, and security arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The DPO directed officials to further tighten security at sensitive locations, places of worship, and key installations, while enhancing intelligence-based operations to preempt any potential threats.

Special instructions were issued to ensure foolproof security at Eidgahs and mosques, with close monitoring of congregations from all schools of thought. Additional deployment in sensitive areas and strict checking at entry and exit points were also ordered.

The meeting emphasized heightened security at bazaars, shopping centers, and other public places to facilitate safe Eid shopping. A zero-tolerance policy against aerial firing was reiterated, warning that violators would face strict legal action.

The DPO also ordered increased patrolling at parks, recreational spots, and public places to ensure the safety of families during Eid festivities, and directed that action against professional beggars and proclaimed offenders continue without interruption.

Reaffirming commitment, Shehbaz Elahi said Kohat Police would take all necessary measures to eliminate terrorism and ensure protection of life and property during Eid-ul-Fitr.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers including SP Headquarters Nawab Khan, SP City Iftikhar Khan, SP Saddar Ihsan Shah, SP Investigation Niaz Muhammad Khan, along with all DSPs, SHOs, and traffic officials.

A detailed briefing was given on the district’s overall security situation and ongoing operations.

Meanwhile, in a separate action, Kohat Police recovered a large quantity of explosive firecrackers and arrested a suspect.

According to police, SHO Noor Muhammad conducted a special checking operation at a checkpoint within the limits of a local police station. During inspection of suspicious individuals and vehicles, a suspect was apprehended and found in possession of explosive material.

The accused was arrested on the spot and a case was registered against him under relevant sections of law.
