Dr Najma Afzal assumes charge as Punjab Ombudsperson for Women

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Punjab Ombudsperson for Women Dr Najma Afzal Khan on Thursday formally assumed charge of her office, where she was warmly received by senior officers and staff at the Ombudsperson Secretariat.

Upon her arrival, the relevant officials briefed her in detail on the institution’s performance, ongoing cases, complaint redressal mechanisms and administrative affairs.

The briefing also highlighted measures taken to ensure protection of women against harassment and outlined the future course of action.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Najma Afzal said that safeguarding women’s rights would remain her top priority. She expressed her resolve to make the institution more effective, transparent and public-friendly so that women could register their complaints without fear and receive timely justice.

She directed officers to discharge their professional duties with honesty and ensure that all cases are decided strictly on merit. She emphasized that teamwork and public trust are essential to further strengthen the credibility of the institution.
