LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) The Punjab government has taken key steps to modernise the criminal justice system by approving new policies and rules aimed at speeding up case disposal and strengthening prosecution, particularly in narcotics-related offences.
According to official sources, the government has decided to enhance monitoring and efficiency of criminal proceedings through the implementation of a Case Flow Management System, alongside approving the draft Prosecution Policy 2025 for narcotics cases.
The newly approved Criminal Prosecution Service Case Flow Management System Rules 2025 are designed to improve coordination, ensure timely case progression, and make the prosecution framework more robust and effective.
Officials said the reforms aim to deliver speedy justice while enhancing institutional coordination in handling both general criminal and drug-related cases.
The approved drafts have been forwarded to relevant departments for completion of legal formalities, and a formal notification will be issued after clearance from the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department.
Sources added that concerned institutions have been directed to initiate necessary steps to ensure effective implementation of the new policies and rules.
