Earth-hour observed to promote energy conservation

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) The Earth Hour was observed in Faisalabad on Saturday to raise awareness about efficient and responsible energy consumption on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

During the designated hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the lights were switched off at government offices and official residences across the city.

The initiative was implemented at key offices including the Commissioner Office, Deputy Commissioner Office and offices of assistant commissioners.

Extra streetlights and lights in public parks were also turned off as part of the campaign.

Traders’ associations actively participated in the initiative, ensuring that lights in markets and bazaars remained switched off during the specified hour.

The citizens also welcomed the government’s move and contributed by turning off lights in their homes.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar said that purpose of observing ‘Earth Hour’ was to create public awareness about the prudent and efficient use of energy, encouraging collective efforts to conserve resources for a sustainable future.
