Adobe is rolling out a new wave of AI-powered helpers across its popular creative apps, aiming to make editing faster, simpler, and more intuitive for users.

Instead of spending time on repetitive steps, users will now be able to simply describe what they want and the software will take care of tasks like sorting footage, cleaning up layers, resizing images, and even putting together rough video edits.

The new system, described as a “creative agent,” is being introduced across Adobe’s Creative Cloud tools, Firefly platform, and also connected with external services like ChatGPT and Claude, expanding how designers and editors interact with their tools.

Adobe says the idea is to bridge the gap between thinking and creating, helping users move from ideas to finished work without getting stuck in technical steps.

The assistants are now rolling out in public beta for major apps including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io, while After Effects is still being tested in a private beta phase.

In Premiere Pro, the assistant can automatically organise raw clips, rename files, detect speech, and assemble a basic edit. In Photoshop, it can quickly replace backgrounds, adjust image sizes for different platforms, and manage layers more efficiently.

Illustrator’s assistant is designed for bulk design work, such as creating multiple variations of a project from spreadsheet data, while also checking for common issues like missing fonts or colour mismatches. In InDesign, layouts can be updated instantly using brand files and style guides.

Frame.io will also benefit from smarter organisation tools, helping teams manage footage, collect feedback, and even generate extra supporting clips. Meanwhile, After Effects remains under limited testing.

Adobe has also upgraded Firefly with new tools aimed at content creators and small businesses. These include quick brand kit creation, turning images into short videos, and fast editing features designed for social media content.

The updated Firefly system can understand natural instructions, search for assets, and adapt to how users work over time. It also makes it easier for teams to collaborate before final publishing.

A redesigned Firefly Studio is currently in early access, bringing everything together in one space for both creation and editing. It also introduces reusable “Elements” for keeping characters and objects consistent, along with “Projects” that group assets and ideas in one place.

Adobe is also expanding its tools beyond its own apps, making them available through platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, with more integrations planned for Google Gemini and Slack.

The company says modern creative work often starts in conversations rather than inside software, and this update is designed to remove barriers between idea and execution.

The new Firefly features are already live on the web, while advanced tools remain limited to selected users for now.
