Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated with religious zeal in southern districts

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervour across the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and South Waziristan, on Wednesday.

The festival, which commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS), saw large congregations offering Eid prayers at mosques, Eidgahs and open grounds in towns and villages throughout the region.

Religious scholars, in their sermons, highlighted the significance and philosophy of sacrifice in islam and urged people to follow the teachings of obedience, patience and devotion to Allah Almighty.

Special prayers were offered for the peace, prosperity, unity and development of the country.

Following the Eid prayers, citizens began slaughtering sacrificial animals in accordance with Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi, while the meat of the sacrificed animals was distributed among relatives, neighbours and underprivileged families.

Meanwhile, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers in Kokar village near his residence, Kundi Model Farm, in Dera Ismail Khan.

After the prayers, the governor exchanged Eid greetings with local residents. His brother, Ahmad Karim Kundi, along with other family members and associates, also participated in the Eid congregation.

Later, Governor Kundi visited Kundi Model Farm, where he exchanged Eid greetings with staff members and reiterated the message of sacrifice, unity and compassion associated with Eid-ul-Azha.
