Exemplary atmosphere of peace, brotherhood in Attock, nine days of Muharram pass peacefully

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) A meeting of the District Peace Committee was held at the Assistant Commissioner Office Attock to review arrangements for Ashura and the overall law and order situation. The meeting was chaired by Assistant Commissioner Attock Muhammad Arif Qureshi.

SDPO Saddar Circle Ilyas Baig, Maulana Sher Zaman, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Siddiqui, Muhammad Yasir, Mufti Ameer Zaman, Waqar Naqvi, Raza Naqvi, PA to AC Muhammad Ajmal and other members of the Peace Committee attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Arif Qureshi said that, by the grace of Allah Almighty, the first nine days of Muharram-ul-Haram passed peacefully across Attock tehsil in an atmosphere of brotherhood, tolerance and religious harmony.

He said no untoward incident or notable complaint was reported during these days, which reflected the mutual cooperation, patience and goodwill of Shia and Sunni religious scholars, members of the Peace Committee, district administration, police and the general public.

Muhammad Arif Qureshi added that people belonging to different schools of thought paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Karbala with devotion and respect, while playing a responsible role in maintaining peace and unity across the district. He expressed the hope that Ashura would also pass peacefully with the same spirit of cooperation, discipline and mutual respect.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Maulana Sher Zaman offered prayers and said that following the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala and the teachings of the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was the need of the hour. He also prayed for the safety, peace, stability and unity of the country and the nation.
