MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has extended a compelling invitation to Overseas Kashmiris to invest boldly in the corporate and tourism sectors, asserting that Azad Jammu and Kashmir offers a stable, business-friendly, and forward-looking environment. Addressing the day-long Overseas Kashmiris Convention held in the state metropolis, on Monday in collaboration with the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, the AJK premier described the gathering as more than a ceremonial assembly; rather, he termed it a defining milestone marking the beginning of a prosperous and economically secure future for the region.

Emphasizing structural reforms, the prime minister announced the establishment of Special Real Estate Courts (SRECs), which will be legally bound to decide cases within 90 days, thereby restoring investor confidence and ensuring transparency. He underscored that outdated laws would be reviewed and, if required, new legislation introduced to foster industrial growth. Moreover, he assured policy continuity and a secure investment climate, adding that a one-window digital system—integrated with National Database and Registration Authority—has been launched to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and streamline registration, licensing, and certification processes.

Highlighting local development initiatives, Rathore revealed that six industrial units in Mirpur have been opened for investors, while the near-completion of the Dry Port project will significantly enhance import and export operations.

Declaring Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence as pillars of the modern economy, he said work on IT parks is underway and that enhanced connectivity through Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited fiber networks will soon strengthen digital infrastructure. He also lauded Medical Transcription Billing Company for creating employment for 4,000 youth, calling it evidence that AJK can emerge as a vibrant IT hub with the right ecosystem.

Turning to social sectors and natural resources, the premier announced plans to upgrade hospitals, universities, degree colleges, and medical institutions through public-private partnerships. He noted that Azad Kashmir’s rare earth minerals and gemstones present immense investment opportunities, adding that a Center of Gemstones will be established in Muzaffarabad to modernize the sector. Stressing sustainable tourism and renewable energy—particularly solar power—as policy priorities, Rathore reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic empowerment alongside the Kashmir freedom movement. He described overseas Kashmiris as invaluable partners in progress and announced the formation of an Overseas Commission and appointment of an Overseas Commissioner to address community concerns effectively.
