FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar said that the administration has accelerated efforts to facilitate wheat growers in the wake of rising petroleum prices, with a focus on ensuring smooth harvesting operations.
Chairing a meeting, he discussed arrangements for the wheat procurement campaign and availability of diesel required for harvesting amid increased fuel prices.
Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir attended the meeting, while deputy commissioners of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot joined via video link.
Director Agriculture Extension Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, Deputy Director food, officers of the agriculture department and representatives of farmers were also present.
The divisional committee, after mutual consultation, proposed rates for wheat harvesting services. It suggested Rs9,000 to Rs9,500 per acre for harvesting through combine harvesters while for threshing (1/14th share), the rate was proposed at 2.75 to 3 maunds of wheat or Rs9,500 to Rs10,000 per acre. The proposed rates are being forwarded to the provincial government for approval.
The meeting was also briefed on the wheat procurement policy and arrangements for the ongoing campaign.
Addressing the participants, the divisional commissioner said that farmers would not be left alone in the prevailing challenging circumstances.
He said that despite the increase in petroleum prices in the global context, the divisional and district administrations were fully committed to providing maximum facilities to wheat growers.
He expressed optimism about a bumper wheat crop this year and said that record cultivation had been achieved and an average yield of 40 maunds per acre was expected.
He further said that arrangements for storage at wheat procurement centers had been finalized. He assured that the administration would stand by farmers during the procurement process.
The rights of farmers and service providers would be fully protected and no exploitation would be allowed, he added.
Representatives of farmers agreed to the proposed rates and also presented certain suggestions for further facilitation, reaffirming their cooperation with the administration to ensure successful completion of the wheat harvesting and procurement drive.
