LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) The administration of the Lahore General Hospital has introduced a smart management system aimed at enhancing the quality of patient care, discipline, and cleanliness standards across the facility.
Principal of Amir-ud-Din Medical College, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, said that under the new system, Deputy Medical Superintendents (DMS) have been fully empowered to ensure the implementation of government standard operating procedures during their respective shifts and will be held directly accountable for any negligence.
He directed sanitary inspectors and supervisors to maintain the highest standards of hygiene throughout the hospital and ensure proper staff attendance, along with the scientific disposal of waste at the ground level.
In terms of security, guards have been instructed to remain vigilant and strictly enforce the “one patient, one attendant” policy to reduce overcrowding in wards while maintaining a courteous attitude towards the public.
In line with the Punjab government’s priorities, administrative doctors have been directed to adopt an “Open Door Policy” to ensure immediate redressal of public complaints.
Additionally, the nursing administration, nursing supervisors, and ward sisters have been made responsible for maintaining discipline and ensuring the timely updating of medical charts in their respective units.
The new policy also requires that no administrative doctor or health professional may leave their post without formally handing over charge to the next shift. Attendance of paramedical staff will be monitored through a biometric system, and any unauthorized absence will result in immediate disciplinary action.
Prof Farooq Afzal emphasized that a strict “Zero Tolerance Policy” has been implemented regarding discipline and patient care, leaving no room for negligence or dereliction of duty.
