LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone Director Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia chaired a meeting of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Circle at the zonal office on Friday to review ongoing cases and improve enforcement mechanisms.

The meeting reviewed progress on money laundering cases, discussed measures to streamline procedures, and explored ways to ensure more effective action.

According to the spokesperson, during the session, relevant circle in-charge gave a comprehensive briefing on the unit’s performance. FIA Director Muhammad Ali Zia directed that all legal aspects of money laundering referrals be thoroughly examined and emphasised the need to further strengthen the quality of investigations and evidence.

He also stressed strict adherence to prescribed timelines for completion of inquiries and investigations.

He instructed that parallel financial investigations should be initiated immediately upon identification of proceeds of crime.

Ali Zia underscored the importance of strengthening monitoring mechanisms to track case progress and removing procedural bottlenecks hindering prosecution.

The meeting emphasised improving conviction rates through timely and high-quality investigations. Matters relating to effective workload distribution and rationalisation were also discussed.

The Director further issued instructions to enhance anti-money laundering measures and improve the professional training of officers, the spokesperson said.
