FIA Quetta recovers iver Rs. 825 mln in massive two-year anti-corruption crackdown

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Quetta has released a detailed performance report highlighting major successes in its two-year campaign against electricity theft and financial irregularities, spanning March 2024 to March 2026.

According to official data, FIA teams conducted 17,560 inspections across various areas, uncovering 1,193 cases of electricity theft. These led to 853 inquiries and the registration of 324 FIRs.

Investigations revealed financial irregularities amounting to Rs 172.98 million, while legal proceedings ensured recoveries totaling Rs 825.56 million.

During operations, authorities seized illegal equipment used in power theft, including 620 tampered slow meters, 15 unauthorized transformers, and approximately 1,300 meters of direct wiring (kunda system).

The probe also exposed the involvement of officials from Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO).

In an overbilling case, 14 QESCO officers were found responsible for 820,606 excess units billed, leading to seven FIRs. In other corruption-related cases, 23 QESCO officers were implicated, resulting in six FIRs.

The FIA emphasized its commitment to intensifying efforts against electricity theft and financial irregularities.

The agency vowed to continue strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal practices, ensuring the protection of public resources and transparency in the energy sector.
