Food commodities'prices, quality examined ahead of Ramazan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The district administration of South Waziristan Lower is taking effective steps to extend relief to citizens during the holy month of Ramazan by ensuring edible commodities at cheaper rates.

As part of efforts, Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman, along with the district police officer paid visit to Wana main bazaar and Rustam bazaar to stock food items.

According to the administration during the visit, he reviewed the availability, quality, and compliance with officially notified prices of essential commodities, including food items, vegetables, fruits, meat, flour, sugar, and pulses.

He also inspected various shops to ensure that government-issued price lists were properly displayed and that items were being sold according to the prescribed rates.

Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman strictly directed shopkeepers that profiteering, hoarding, and artificial price hikes would not be tolerated during the sacred month of Ramazan.

He warned that strict legal action would be taken against any violators.

He also urged people to make purchases according to the official price lists and to immediately report any complaints to the district administration to enable timely action.

He said the administration was committed to ensuring the availability of quality essential goods at reasonable prices throughout Ramazan. In this regard he added no negligence would be tolerated.
