Food safety drive continues

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams continued inspections and enforcement actions across the district to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards on the directives of Deputy Director PFA Gujrat Sadia Rafat.

According to the official source, the teams inspected 48 food businesses during the latest drive. Improvement notices were issued to 25 food outlets over violations of food safety laws and hygiene regulations, while fines amounting to Rs92,000 were imposed on five businesses.

The source said that two food samples were collected for laboratory analysis, while legal action was initiated against serious violations, leading to the registration of two FIRs. One food business was also ordered to stop operations.

During the inspections, 3.9 kilograms of expired food items were recovered and discarded to prevent the sale of unsafe food products.

The ongoing drive aims to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for consumers across the district.
