Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements are being ensured across the province to maintain law and order during the Holy Week of the Christian community

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements are being ensured across the province to maintain law and order during the Holy Week of the Christian community.

He expressed these views during his visit to the Central Control Room of the Home Department on Friday, where he reviewed security measures for Good Friday and Easter celebrations. Additional Secretary Internal Security Maham Asif Malik briefed him on the overall situation, stating that security plans have been finalized for 2,908 Good Friday events and 3,374 churches across Punjab.

According to the briefing, special attention is being given to places of worship and public spaces in line with guidelines issued by the Interior Department. High-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive locations, while district control rooms have been linked with the central control room of the Home Department for effective monitoring.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government is committed to promoting interfaith harmony, adding that the Christian community in Pakistan is celebrating Holy Week just like the rest of the world. He noted that along with religious gatherings, people also visit recreational places during this period, making it essential to ensure strict security across all locations.

He further directed that Rescue 1122 and fire brigade teams remain stationed near churches, while hospitals across the province stay on high alert to deal with any emergency situation.

Secretary Home Punjab Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi emphasized the need for strict and indiscriminate checking at all entry points of churches. He also directed authorities to ensure the use of Hotel Eye software in hotels and rest houses, and that security personnel remain on duty until the conclusion of all ceremonies. He stressed strict implementation of all security SOPs issued by the Home Department.

Special Secretary Fazalur Rehman was also present on the occasion.
