LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jun, 2026) The first command conference on Sunday held at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority headquarters under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Karim, reviewing Muharram security arrangements, crime prevention measures, law and order situation and Smart Safe Cities operations.
Officials were briefed on special security arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings, while the use of panic buttons and other modern security features introduced for public safety was also reviewed.
Authorities said geo-tagging of more than 4,500 imambargahs across Punjab has been completed under the Muharram security plan.
The meeting also reviewed measures to keep Smart Safe Cities Operations Centers on high alert for effective monitoring of law and order.

Regional commanders and district managers briefed the participants on operational readiness and Smart Safe Cities measures while managers and SSPs from 43 operational centers across Punjab attended the meeting.
On the occasion,IGP Punjab Abdul Karim distributed certificates of appreciation among officers, managers and SSPs for their performance.
He said the Safe Cities Network was playing a key role in maintaining law and order and preventing crime in the province, adding that foolproof security would be ensured across all districts during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The IG further directed that Safe Cities technology be fully utilized for effective monitoring and swift response.
