MATLI:

A SIM card acquired in the name of a village woman was reportedly used to blackmail an influential person, the fraud victim's husband told reporters at the Matli Press Club on Tuesday.

A resident of Saleem Colony, Matli, Ali Nawaz Mangnehar, has alleged that a group of scammers is exploiting women under the guise of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

According to him a couple lures unsuspecting women with promise of a quick access to the BISP fund. They then take their fingerprints to issue multiple SIM cards in their names.

Ali Nawaz told journalists at Matli Press Club that about six months ago, his wife's fingerprints were taken and used to register five SIM cards, which were later sold to other individuals. He said he discovered the fraud when he attempted to obtain a new SIM card, only to learn that five were already registered under his wife's name.
