PESHAWAR: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 22nd, 2026) The police in Khyber district’s Bara tehsil have rescued a 54-year-old French national and her children following allegations of prolonged domestic abuse, officials confirmed on Monday.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed said that Khyber police acted on verified information received on June 18, 2026, and conducted a raid at a residence where they recovered French citizen Sylvia Yasmina along with her children.

Authorities said a case has been registered against her Pakistani husband, while further legal proceedings and investigation are underway.

Police officials stated that Sylvia had been married to a Pakistani national and had been residing in Bara since 2014. The couple has five children, including one child with hearing and speech impairments.

Following the rescue operation, the woman and her children were placed in protective custody and shifted to the Women Police Station in Peshawar to ensure their safety and facilitate legal procedures.

In her statement to police, Sylvia alleged that she had been subjected to continuous physical and psychological abuse by her husband and was not permitted to leave the home.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged on her complaint, she claimed that she and her children had lived under harsh conditions for years, during which they were allegedly deprived of basic freedom and repeatedly assaulted.

She further alleged that both she and her children sustained visible injuries and marks due to the abuse, and requested authorities to take strict legal action against her husband, describing him as violent and abusive.

Officials added that the French national has expressed her desire to return to France. Following her request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the French Embassy, while investigations into the case continue.
