GCUF marks 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties

Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China at a ceremony held at the STC Hall, New Campus

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China at a ceremony held at the STC Hall, New Campus.

Chinese Consul General in Lahore Mr Sun Yan attended the event along with Mr Li Hao Teng, Director of the Political Affairs Division of the Chinese Consulate in Lahore. Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad Dr Saddam Hussain was also present.

Speaking on the occasion, GCUF Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Amin highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and appreciated China’s continued support in higher education, research, innovation and human resource development.

Dr Saddam Hussain announced the establishment of the Confucius Institute UAF Subset at GCUF and said new scholarship opportunities for students are expected from September 2026.

In his keynote address, Mr Sun Yan reaffirmed the “iron-clad friendship” between the two countries and highlighted bilateral cooperation in education, agriculture, information technology and CPEC 2.0. He also referred to collaboration in strategic projects including the JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and the Hangor-class submarine program.

The ceremony was attended by faculty members, students, Chinese alumni and university officials.

A commemorative plaque was also presented to mark the establishment of the Confucius Institute UAF Subset at GCUF.
