SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) The Government College Women University Sialkot organised a day-long seminar on “Phenomenological Investigation of Heavy Quarkonium via Flux Tube Model and Modern String Approach,” a statement said on Saturday.
The event was arranged by the Department of Physics in collaboration with ORIC under the IRG-ORIC 2026 funded research project.
The session was conducted by Dr.Zaki Ahmad,who was also the principal investigator of the project.
He presented research on heavy quarkonium systems,decay models,the Cornell potential,flux tube string-breaking mechanisms,strong decay amplitudes,decay widths and the application of simple harmonic oscillator wave functions in meson decay calculations.

The organizers acknowledged the financial support of ORIC,GCWUS,under the IRG-ORIC 2026 research grant and said such academic activities play an important role in promoting research-based learning and scientific advancement.
