GIMS Director opens modern NICU in Gambat hospital

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) The Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital inaugurated a state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at its Pediatric Department on Thursday.

GIMS Director Dr Rahim Bux Bhatti performed the inauguration. Senior doctors including Medical Superintendent Dr Karamat Ali Thebo, Dr Bakhtiar Ali Bhunbhro, Dr Asif Khuhro, Dr Pradeep Kumar, Dr Qadam Ali Jamro, Dr Wajid Ali Mangi, Dr Iftekhar Shah, Dr Kareem Bux Solangi, Dr Shaukat along with hospital staff, attended the ceremony.

Media consultant of the GIMS Hospital, Jameel Hyder said the NICU was equipped with modern facilities to provide critical care to premature and critically ill newborns.

The unit is expected to improve pediatric services for Gambat and adjoining districts of northern Sindh.

He said that the facility would help reduce neonatal mortality and ensure timely, specialised treatment for infants in need of intensive care.

The GIMS Pediatric Department already caters to a large number of patients from Khairpur, Sukkur and surrounding areas.
