PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding minority rights and ensuring their welfare.

He said this during a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) minority MNA and patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, at the Governor House.

During the meeting, issues faced by minority communities, protection of their rights and measures for their welfare were discussed in detail. The two sides also exchanged views on the PPP’s policy and initiatives regarding minority rights.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that PPP had always been a strong advocate of minority rights and had taken practical steps in every tenure to ensure equal rights for minority communities.

He said the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees complete religious freedom and equal citizenship rights to minorities, adding that it was the responsibility of the state to safeguard these rights.

The Governor said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds a unique historical significance in terms of Gandhara civilization, offering vast opportunities for the promotion of religious tourism.

He said that after assuming office, he had visited places of worship of minority communities in Peshawar, and special events of minority communities were also being celebrated at the Governor House.

Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani appreciated the Governor’s efforts for addressing issues of minority communities and said that PPP leadership had always prioritized inclusion of minorities in the national mainstream and protection of their rights.

He paid tribute to the role and contributions of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for the welfare of minorities.

Later, Dr Vankwani also visited different sections of the Governor House.

Meanwhile, a noted social activist Manwar Shah Dawar, along with former Senior Vice President FATA Haneef Dawar, called on Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to discuss key issues facing the tribal districts, particularly North Waziristan.

During the meeting, the delegation urged the immediate rehabilitation of the main road passing through Isori village in North Waziristan. They informed the Governor that the road serves as a vital lifeline for the local population, facilitating access to transportation, healthcare, education, and employment. Its closure, they said, has caused severe hardships and unprecedented difficulties for residents.

The delegation also demanded adequate compensation for those injured in the Patasi Adda blast and raised concerns over the prevailing law and order situation in the area.

Inviting the Governor to visit North Waziristan, the delegation emphasized the need for him to personally assess the ground realities and challenges faced by the people.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured the delegation of full cooperation in resolving the issues and indicated that necessary instructions would be issued to the relevant authorities for prompt action.
