Governor Kundi urges youth engagement, quality education for national development

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday stressed the need for meaningful youth engagement, quality education, women empowerment and greater opportunities in sports, saying the province's large youth population was its greatest strength for future development.

Talking to members of the Empower Youth Parliament, led by its Chairman Malik Abid Khalil, here at the Governor House, the Governor welcomed the delegation and termed the Youth Parliament an excellent platform for learning, leadership development and civic participation.

He appreciated the organisation for serving people despite having no financial support from the government and encouraged its members to continue their activities for the benefit of society.

During an interactive question-and-answer session, the Governor said powers had been devolved to the provinces under the Constitution and urged elected representatives to effectively raise the issues of their respective areas to ensure timely resolution of public problems.

Referring to the security situation, he said land of Afghanistan was being used against Pakistan, adding, terrorism had adversely affected trade with Afghanistan.

He said that islam did not permit the killing of innocent people under any circumstances.

The Governor called for the effective implementation of the quota reserved for special persons and stressed that quality education was essential for preparing youth to meet future challenges.

He said the provincial government should focus on youth engagement and women empowerment programmes, adding that investment in young people would contribute to sustainable development.

Highlighting the importance of sports, Kundi said that work was started on Arbab Niaz Stadium (Imran Khan) in 2017 while completed now. He said that the launch of KP Champions League (KCL) would provide positive opportunities for talented youth.

He said every country had its own system of governance and emphasised that every citizen should play a constructive role in national development while exercising the democratic right to peaceful protest.

The Governor said the doors of the Governor House were always open to the public and assured the delegation of his support for positive youth initiatives.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed among the participants.
