Governor stresses lasting peace as key to economic stability in KP

CHARSADDA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi has said that concerted efforts were underway to improve the law and order situation in the province, particularly in the southern districts, as sustainable peace was essential for economic stability, investment and job creation.

Talking to media at the residence of Barrister Arshad Abdullah here, the Governor said he stood with the provincial government in addressing public issues, including those related to wheat and the CNG sector, but stressed that the provincial administration needed to demonstrate greater seriousness in resolving such matters.

He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were performing their duties efficiently despite limited resources, adding that the provincial government had yet to take effective measures to increase the salaries of police personnel.

Faisal Karim Kundi said he was ready to extend every possible cooperation for resolving the issues faced by the province.

He added that the Field Marshal and the Federal government had played a positive role in easing tensions between Iran and the United States, a contribution that had been appreciated internationally.

The Governor said comprehensive and long-term reforms in the health and education sectors were the need of the hour to ensure better public services.

Commenting on political affairs, he termed the chief minister’s decision to bring his security guard onto the assembly floor an unconstitutional act.

He also said the provincial government had failed to effectively present Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s case before the Centre regarding the NFC Award.

Kundi emphasized that a strong federation was the guarantee of a strong Pakistan and said national issues could be resolved through dialogue and cooperation rather than confrontation. Referring to the budget, he said the claims that it would not be passed had proved incorrect.

He further said that meetings with the Prime Minister should have been utilized to secure more resources and incentives for the province, but the provincial government had not achieved better results in this regard.
