Hajj sanitation, inspection plan rolled out as pilgrim flow towards holy sites begins

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Jeddah Municipality has completed preparations for the Hajj season 1447 AH with integrated operational plans aimed at strengthening public health, improving field response and ensuring better services for pilgrims, residents and visitors.

According to SPA, the municipality’s Hajj plan focuses on areas witnessing heavy pilgrim movement as well as routes leading to the holy sites, with intensified inspections of kitchens, restaurants, markets, commercial centers, hotels, furnished apartments and entertainment facilities to improve compliance and service quality.

The municipality said special cleaning and environmental sanitation campaigns have also been launched at pilgrim gathering and transit points, including areas surrounding the Yalamlam and Al-Juhfah miqat locations within the jurisdictions of Al-Lith and Rabigh municipalities.

The report said these measures are part of this year’s operational plan to ensure readiness for pilgrims passing through miqat points on their way to perform Hajj rituals.

The municipality further stated that monitoring of licensed kitchens will be increased during the days of sacrificial slaughter, alongside supervision of livestock sale points approved by the Hajj works committee.

In coordination with security authorities, municipal teams will also oversee checkpoints at entry and exit points of the governorate to prevent the smuggling of sacrificial meat during the Hajj season.
