Hardened criminal arrested after gunfight with police in Attock

ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) A notorious and hardened criminal, wanted in multiple cases of attempted murder, robbery, and dacoity, was arrested in an injured condition following a brief but intense shootout with police in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb on Thursday, officials said.

According to a police spokesperson, a patrol team signalled two suspects to stop during routine checking; however, they suddenly opened indiscriminate fire, prompting police to respond swiftly. During the exchange of fire, one suspect was found injured at the scene, while his accomplice managed to escape successfully under the cover of firing.

Police later identified the suspect as Noor Muhammad, who sustained bullet injuries, allegedly from shots fired by his own accomplice during the crossfire.

He was shifted immediately to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, and senior officers reached the scene to collect evidence and assess the situation.

Authorities described the arrested man as a dangerous repeat offender involved in several serious crimes. A case has been registered on behalf of the state, while police have launched raids to trace and arrest the fleeing accomplice, therefore intensifying efforts to dismantle the criminal network operating in the area.
