KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 8th, 2026) The second phase of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 begins today at the National Stadium, as authorities finalize arrangements for the remaining fixtures of the tournament.

A total of 22 matches, including the qualifier, will be played in Karachi until April 28. Eight pitches have been prepared for the matches, which are expected to produce high-scoring contests with a mix of experienced and emerging players in action.

The opening fixture of this phase will feature the newly added franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen taking on Peshawar Zalmi. The 15th match of the league is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.

Cricket officials expect competitive matches despite hot weather conditions, with batting-friendly surfaces likely to assist stroke play, while spinners may also find some support.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of matches, with all participating teams to be provided VVIP-level security. A comprehensive traffic management plan has also been devised to facilitate citizens.

Preparations at the stadium have been completed, including the cleaning of seating enclosures, while broadcasters have assumed their operational responsibilities.

Modern technology will be utilized to enhance the broadcast and viewing experience.

Flags of Pakistan, the Pakistan cricket board (PCB), PSL, and all eight participating teams have been displayed on the main stadium building.

However, there is a noticeable lack of promotional activity across the city, as major roads remain without welcome banners, hoardings, or player displays typically associated with the tournament.

Concerns have also been raised over open manholes in areas surrounding the stadium, posing potential risks to public safety.

On Thursday, a double-header will be played, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing Islamabad United in the first match, followed by a clash between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.

Out of the 22 matches scheduled in Karachi, six will be double-headers, while 10 will be single fixtures. The qualifier on April 28 will be contested between the top two teams on the points table.
