Franchise owners say the presence of crowds is essential to the spirit and success of the league
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 28th, 2026) The owners of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 franchises have called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to permit spectators’ entry into stadiums during the ongoing tournament.
In a series of messages shared on social media, franchise owners urged the government to allow fans to return to the venues, stating that the presence of crowds is essential to the spirit and success of the league.
Lahore Qalandars owner Atif Rana said the PSL represents a celebration of cricket in Pakistan but remains incomplete without spectators, appealing to the prime minister and the chief minister to restore fan access to stadiums.
Multan Sultans owner Gohar Shah expressed a similar sentiment, stating that all stakeholders strongly desire the return of fans to the stands.
Rawalpindi Pindiz owner Ahsan Tahir remarked that cricket cannot exist without its supporters, adding that the game is deeply connected to the public, whose enthusiasm keeps it alive.
Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi described the PSL as a unifying force for the country, emphasizing that the energy and passion of fans reflect the true essence of the league.
Islamabad United owner Ali Naqvi said the presence of fans serves as the heartbeat of the PSL, noting that matches feel incomplete without spectators in the stadium.
Hyderabad Kingsmen owner Fawad Sarwar stated that fans were greatly missed during the opening match and called for the return of crowd participation, highlighting the importance of noise and excitement on every boundary and wicket.
Separately, Karachi Kings’ owner also expressed disappointment over empty stadiums during PSL matches, describing the situation as disheartening for players and stakeholders alike.
