Health Department Abbottabad to deploy 1,708 teams for polio campaign targeting children across 54 UCs

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) A total of 1,708 teams will be deployed across 54 union councils (UCs) of Abbottabad to vaccinate children under the age of five during the upcoming anti-polio campaign scheduled from April 13 to April 19.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram here Thursday, where detailed preparations for the campaign were reviewed. Officials from the District Polio Control Room briefed the participants on operational readiness, including team training, security arrangements, and overall campaign strategy.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that all children under five years of age must be administered polio drops along with Vitamin A supplements during the campaign.

He emphasized the need to further improve team performance and ensure comprehensive door-to-door vaccination coverage, while also focusing on fixed and transit to maximize outreach.

To ensure smooth implementation, the district police have been issued necessary instructions for effective security arrangements.

The Deputy Commissioner also urged the parents to cooperate with the administration by ensuring their children receive the polio vaccine, terming it a vital national responsibility.

The meeting was attended by the Mayor Abbottabad, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), District Health Officer, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, DSP Headquarters, WHO Area Coordinator, PEI Coordinator, EPI Coordinator and other relevant officials.
