Heavy rains cause widespread damage across district Abbottabad, roads blocked, injuries reported

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) Torrential rains across Hazara Division have caused widespread disruption and damage, particularly in Abbottabad and surrounding areas, where landslides, road blockages, and structural damage have been reported.

According to details, heavy downpours triggered multiple landslides in the scenic Galiyat region, resulting in the closure of two key link roads and severely affecting traffic flow. Authorities have advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas until conditions improve.

In Abbottabad, Namli Maira Road was blocked due to a landslide, cutting off access for local residents and travelers. Similarly, the Neryan Bagh–Nakar Road was also closed after debris and mud slid onto the roadway, creating hazardous conditions for vehicles.

In another incident, a passenger van traveling toward Bakot was struck by a falling tree amid heavy rain. As a result, the driver and one passenger sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, in the Tajwal area of Abbottabad, continuous rainfall led to the collapse of the roof and walls of a residential house. Although no casualties were reported, the incident caused significant damage to household belongings, leaving the affected family in distress.

Local administration and rescue teams have been mobilized to clear blocked roads and assist affected residents. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious, especially in landslide-prone areas, and to follow safety advisories during the ongoing spell of rain.
