PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Chairman, Hayatabad Medical Complex MTI, Noorul Iman on Thursday said all possible steps would be taken in collaboration with the government to ensure better treatment and healthcare facilities for children suffering from Thalassemia, stressing that these children were the future of the nation.
He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at the hospital in connection with World Thalassemia Day.
He said the large number of registered Thalassemia patients at the institution reflected the trust of parents in the hospital and the quality care being provided to children.
On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer, Sehat Card Plus Program, Dr. Muhammad Riaz Tanoli, announced that Thalassemia would be included in the health facilitation program, terming it a major initiative of the provincial government.
Medical Director, Professor Dr Khalid Khan, said the Thalassemia centre had started with only one chair and five patients, but currently 2,974 Thalassemia and more than 200 Hemophilia patients were registered at the facility.

Dean Khyber Girls Medical College, Dr Shehzad Akbar said treatment of Thalassemia patients remained among the institution’s top priorities and continuous efforts were being made to improve treatment and healthcare services for them.
During the event, Dr Huma delivered a special presentation highlighting the significance of World Thalassemia Day and the importance of awareness regarding the disease.
Children affected by Thalassemia also urged the hospital administration to establish a separate dedicated ward for them to ensure improved medical care.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also held at the end of the event to mark World Thalassemia Day.
