Horticulture agency plants over 3,000 shady trees, expands beautification drive

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2026) Horticulture Agency Multan,Managing Director Syed Waseem Hassan, said that the agency completed the plantation of more than 3,000 shady trees and ornamental plants along the city's green belts as part of its ongoing environmental improvement campaign.

He said the plantation drive has covered key locations, including Vehari road, Southern bypass to Sahu chowk, the Metro route and several other areas. An additional 5,000 trees will be planted during August to further enhance the city's green cover.

The MD said tree plantation and grass development were also underway at major parks and public squares across the city. Construction work at Khatam-e-Nabuwwat chowk (14 Number Chowk) has been completed, while beautification projects under public-private partnership were in progress successfully.

He added that paintwork has been completed at 9 Number chowk, Rashidabad chowk and the wall of the University of education. The agency was also taking steps to increase its self-generated income to strengthen institutional sustainability.

Syed Waseem Hassan, said development, beautification and plantation initiatives would continue across Multan. Ongoing projects include Chungi No. 14, Aziz Hotel Chowk, Chungi No. 9, Rashidabad Flyover, Katchery Flyover and Shah Shams Park.

He further stated that an extensive plantation campaign will continue throughout the current month and August, while the restoration and beautification of Bahawalpur Bypass will be completed soon. More trees will also be planted along green belts and at major city intersections to improve the urban environment.
