ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has detained 10 people during an operation against begging in different parts of the Federal capital, while officials urged citizens to help authorities identify individuals involved in professional begging activities.

During the crackdown, officials took action against individuals found involved in begging at public places, markets, and roadsides. The 10 people detained during the operation were shifted to a local lockup for further legal proceedings.

Officials said the campaign is part of regular enforcement activities being conducted by the city administration to discourage organized begging networks and reduce public complaints linked to the issue. Teams from the district administration have been visiting busy commercial areas and intersections where beggars are often seen approaching residents and visitors.

The administration also called on citizens to cooperate with authorities in identifying people involved in professional begging. Residents were requested to report such activities to the relevant departments so timely action could be taken.

Officials said public cooperation was important for making the campaign effective and helping the administration maintain order in the federal capital. They added that information shared by citizens could help authorities trace groups involved in organized begging operations.

The district administration further stated that anti-begging operations would continue in different sectors of Islamabad in the coming days. Authorities said teams had been directed to increase monitoring in public places and take action wherever necessary.

The administration has also advised citizens to avoid encouraging professional begging by giving money at traffic signals and public areas. Instead, residents were urged to support welfare organizations and charity institutions working for people in need through proper channels.

Officials maintained that the campaign was aimed at improving management of public spaces and addressing concerns raised by citizens regarding the growing number of beggars in different parts of the city.
