IG Prisons Sindh, DIG Sukkur Region visit jails, review cleanliness, security, meet prisoners

Inspector General of Prisons Sindh Fida Hussain Mastoi and Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Sukkur Region Muhammad Aslam Malik carried out a detailed inspection of various jails in the Sukkur and Larkana regions on Monday

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Inspector General of Prisons Sindh Fida Hussain Mastoi and Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Sukkur Region Muhammad Aslam Malik carried out a detailed inspection of various jails in the Sukkur and Larkana regions on Monday.

During the visit, they inspected Central Jail and Correctional Facility Sukkur including the Juvenile and Women’s Jail, District Jail and Correctional Facility Sukkur Central Jail and Correctional Facility Larkana, District Jail and Correctional Facility Shikarpur and District Jail and Correctional Facility Jacobabad.

The officials visited washrooms, barracks and cells to assess cleanliness and security arrangements. They also met with inmates and inquired about facilities being provided by jail administrations in accordance with the Jail Manual.

In addition, they inspected jail kitchens and checked the quality and quantity of food served to prisoners.

The IG Prisons Sindh and DIG Jails directed all jail in-charge officers to further improve the quality of food provided to inmates and ensure it complies with the Jail Manual.

During the visit, the quality of food at District Jail Shikarpur and District Jail Jacobabad was found unsatisfactory, drawing strong displeasure from the officials. Fines were imposed on the food contractors of both jails, and concerned officers were directed to immediately improve the quality and quantity of meals and ensure compliance with the Jail Manual.

The officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing effective measures to further improve facilities for prisoners and align them with human rights standards.
