IGP suspends DSP over corruption, orders departmental inquiry

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem has suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Operations Civil Lines Khurram Shehzad Cheema over allegations of incompetence, corruption and misuse of authority, ordering him to report to the Central Police Office (CPO), according to a Punjab Police spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the suspension orders were issued as part of the ongoing accountability process within Punjab Police.

The IGP also ordered a departmental inquiry against the suspended officer to determine responsibility for the alleged misconduct.

The spokesperson said disciplinary action would be decided after completion of the inquiry in accordance with the findings.

Abdul Kareem said corruption, abuse of office and misuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said strict accountability would be ensured against officers and officials found involved in misuse of powers or violation of the police code of conduct.
