IGP visits homes of martyred constables in Gujrat

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Wednesday visited the residences of martyred constables Fayyaz Ali and Umar Aftab in Gujrat and met their family members.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala Khurram Shahzad Haider and District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Akhtar Farooq also accompanied the IGP during the visit.

The IGP Punjab offered Fateha and prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families. He also met the children and parents of the martyrs and assured the families that Punjab Police would never forget the sacrifices rendered by its personnel in the line of duty.

Abdul Kareem said the martyrs of Punjab Police, who sacrificed their lives for the protection of life and property of citizens and maintenance of peace, were the pride of the force.

He said the sacrifices of the martyrs would never be allowed to go in vain and complete care would be taken of the welfare of their families. The IGP assured the families that every possible support would be provided for the education, upbringing and bright future of the children of the martyrs.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Constable Fayyaz Ali and Constable Umar Aftab embraced martyrdom during duty after being fired upon by suspects.

The family of martyred Constable Fayyaz Ali comprises his widow, one son and two daughters, while martyred Constable Umar Aftab is survived by his parents and five sisters.
